Hand-tied Brushes
Brushes made from found fibres, coastal plants and studio fragments ask for conversation rather than control.
I have been experimenting with brushes made from local flora, found feathers and charred wood. These tools have minds of their own.
They do not allow for precision. They demand a conversation, and the mark-making becomes less about intention than response.
Each brush changes the tempo of the surface, holding a little of the landscape in its handle and fibre.
